Erdőmentők

The Erdőmentők Foundation is one of Hungary's most active conservation organizations, focusing on reforestation, wildlife rescue, and environmental education. They needed a logo that conveys both a call to action and a deep-rooted commitment to nature.

The objective was to create a symbol that illustrates the foundation’s dual mission: the preservation of nature and the active human involvement required to achieve it. The logo needed to be iconic, easily recognizable from a distance (even on field uniforms), and emotionally resonant.

Concept: The Power of Negative Space

The design utilizes a sophisticated negative space technique to merge two vital symbols into a single, unified mark:

  • The Protective Oak: The outer silhouette is a sturdy, broad-leafed tree (reminiscent of a majestic oak). It represents the foundation’s primary work: reforestation and the creation of a stable environment.

  • The Spirit of the Wild: Within the trunk and lower branches, the negative space reveals the head and antlers of a deer. By placing the animal inside the tree, the design conveys that the forest is the essential protector of wildlife.

  • Visual Metaphor: The deer is literally formed by the tree, suggesting that without the forest, the animal cannot exist. It highlights the foundation's holistic approach to "saving" the environment.
